The more things change, the more they remain the same”. What leads me to this quote now? In 1982, Israel had a war with Lebanon, one of way too many since its founding in 1948.

Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary Fame, wrote this song and they performed it in Israel and around the world. So it seems to me that in forty plus years we’ve learned very little or maybe nothing at all. Being many of my videos and posts have a mental health element to them, here’s another commonly used quote. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different outcome.

This weekend in my daily Inspirations on my website “everythingilearned.net” I am replacing  both Saturdays and Sundays with the video of “Light One Candle”. For those of you who are religious, these days are considered holy or a good time for deep reflection. If you’re an agnostic or an atheist, please don’t be offended by this choice, but do your own analysis, questioning and critical thinking.

If you’d like to know more about this song and Yarrows thinking, go on the internet and read up on it. You might also look up Peter, Paul and Mary and Bob Dylan or Pete Seeger. A possible place to start is Bob Dylan’s “Blowing in the Wind” released in 1963, now sixty years ago. It’s words, thoughts and the feelings it stirs are still too darn real.

Beginning Monday, and all this week we will focus on the truly incredible life of Nelson Mandela. Ironically his vision and work and importance in South Africa and world, have shown their importance to the world again NOW!! TODAY!!
