This video struck me powerfully, as well as personally. This young couple met in fifth grade and all these years later are married and have a child. Amazingly in 1967, the United States Supreme Court decided to allow interracial marriage in a case entitled “Loving vs. Virginia. Here in 2024, who someone loves and marries somehow is again under threat. Who and what we are as a country is very much in question. I lived this on a slightly different level when my wife and I married in 1975, against the wishes of both families, as she is Catholic, and I am Jewish. We are still married forty-eight years later, and our daughter is married to a man who is black American whose parents are from Haiti. We now have an amazing three-year-old granddaughter who is bi-racial. Isn’t it about time that we evaluate individuals by their own behavior, and the lives they live, rather than their race, religion, gender, etc.
